The American television media is great at creating storylines and subplots. I don't remember too much about the last Olympic games in Athens, but I one thing I do remember was the competition between the American and Australian swimmers. The storyline started in Sydney 2000 where the Australian swimmers kicked the American butt and 2004 was the year to strike back!

It was young American phenom Michael Phelps vs the cocky Aussie Ian "Thorpedo" Thorpe. It was the saga of the American relay team coming back to avenge their lost in Sydney. It's all pretty dramatic if you ask me, but it makes for good entertaining TV!

Not bad with your picks! I really didn't think that Manny would get traded. Manny for Bay - well the Dodgers got the best player in the 3-way. No more worries of Manny lighting us up in the playoffs!

Too bad the Burnett trade didn't go through. Like that fact that we go Pudge to fill the gap left by Posada's injury but would have loved to have Burnett round out the rotation. Can't win them all I guess!

Well done! You managed to predict 2 out of 3 players who got moved. The biggest surprise was ManRam and to the Dodgers no less. Let's see how he does in a real outfield where he doesn't have a Green Monster to hide behind and no DH position to depend on.

As for Jason Bay, I can see him thriving in Boston. He will no longer be the focal point of the offense which I have to admit he isn't a good enough hitter to be, but put him in a line up where he doesn't feel the pressure to always be the man will make him more relax and perform better.

Burnett isn't going anywhere. JP has said that he's off the market:

That's too bad. I guess JP doesn't understand the concept of selling high! Burnett is going to walk away this summer when he opts out and the Jays will get nothing in return.

I don't think we will ever trade Manny. We just won't get equal value for him, and Theo Epstein is too smart to give away players. Who on the Mets or Angels will we get back of equal value? Torii Hunter? Not by a long shot. Carlos Beltran? I don't think the Mets will bite.

We will just put up with his eccentricities as long as he puts up Manny like numbers.
